Our Expert: Laura spent about 3 ½ years researching DNA breakage and repair at U.T.M.D. Anderson research facility, then decided that the field of forensic science was advancing to DNA analysis and decided to give that a try. She spent approximately 6 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety as a criminalist V where she became court qualified as an expert in crime scene analysis, evidence collection and handling, hair comparison, serology and DNA.

In 2000 Laura took an opportunity to run her own lab with the Oklahoma City Police Department. She was hired as their DNA lab manager and in 2001 she got her certificate from ASCLD to be technical leader.

After 21 months and assisting the Oklahoma Indigent Defense in the release of a man who had been wrongfully convicted Laura realized the justice system would be much better served if she took her expertise to the defense so she resigned from the police department and went to work and is currently employed with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System. She works on all aspects of forensics in all stages of a case from trial prep to Post conviction Affidavits.

This book will be aimed at all attorneys that would or could come into contact with forensic issues, as well as judges who have the burden of ruling on many aspects of forensics.

From DNA to Daubert this book will help answer some common questions about DNA and serology as well as addressing misconceptions that many forensic scientists are keeping quiet about.

We want the judicial system to know and understand these issues and hold experts accountable. If you don’t who will?
